Ok. Getting back on track. I started my afternoon with all of the jelly roll strips sewn, but only half of them pressed. I don't know about you all but sometimes I dread ironing, and especially big units. This seems to be where my quilting ADD kicks in, and I usually jump into another project. But with the help of a great iTunes playlist (some of the songs are too embarrassing to even admit) I stuck with it.
Then came the cutting, and more iTunes.
And then the fun part. Laying it out on the design wall.
I just put my design wall up within the last few weeks and now can't imagine my life without it. It's nothing special, the back of an old vinyl table cloth, but it works perfect for me. Somehow, it's more motivating to stick with and finish a project when you can see it (and it's off the floor and out of the way) coming together. Maybe this will mean more finishes? I like that. :)
All in all, I was able to get one quarter of the quilt sewn together. Love it so far! I think this will be a perfect Valentine's Day quilt, so fingers crossed it is finished by then. :)
Today's weather forecast looks like another cold one, so I think more sewing is on the agenda for this afternoon. Have a wonderful weekend everyone and hopefully see you be back here for {Sew} Modern Monday!
Just saw your pictures on the flickr group. I am using a Bliss jelly roll too. Just started two days ago so I am playing catch up! This is just so pretty!! Kristin
ReplyDeleteLove it! Perfect Valentine fabric! It looks so springy - we have the frigid temps here too!
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted to do a postage stamp quilt - just need to get done with these stars and onto more modern things!!!
Very pretty! Love the arrangement. Great job with your FNSI.
ReplyDeleteI love it! It looks amazing! :D
ReplyDeleteTHAT. IS. GORGEOUS!! *is gleeful*
ReplyDeleteThis is going to be awesome! I'm with you on the pressing. So tedious!
ReplyDeleteThat is going to be one fantastic quilt!
ReplyDeleteYour postage stamp progress looks great!! I'm the same as you, seeing it up on the design wall makes me want to finish things even more!
ReplyDeleteNice. How can you go wrong with Bliss!!
ReplyDeleteUsing the back of a tablecloth...hmm, I could actually do that! I cant do any sewing until i turn some rockin tunes on. its just not possible.
ReplyDeleteA good example of how a nasty day can turn into lots of fun and accomplishment! Great blocks.
ReplyDeleteGreat job! I chose to make mine scrappy, meaning I've got some 2 1/2 inch squares and some strips so I've been dreading the sewing because I'll have to use math to figure out how many I need of each! But, I'm getting on with it today so I can catch up. Yours looks great. Don't you love Bliss?
