{Sew} Modern Monday #9

It's Monday, and you all know what that means...

Now that I have official confirmation that my Spicing Up the Kitchen Swap goodies have safely made the trip from Iowa to California (if I could have shipped myself to warmer California weather I would have) I am very excited to share them with you!

I signed up for the SUTK swap way back in December (this was my first swap ever) and anxiously awaited to be assigned a swap partner.  My partner Hollie, from The Undercover Crafter, was pretty straight forward in what she hoped to receive in the swap which was very, very helpful.  From the beginning, I decided I would make her an apron using a picture from her inspiration mosaic.

Pulling out my garment sewing skills from my glorious 4-H days, I tackled this apron with only that one photo.  No pattern involved.  Only to find out over the weekend, there was in fact a pattern out there.  Isn't that just the way it goes? Oh well.

Now there were a few bumps in the road when I started doubting my fabric choices, but thanks to some of your great comments I kept with it.  In the end I am so glad I listened, because I love it!  And the best part, I'm pretty sure Hollie does too!

I also included a dishtowel accented with the same fabric as the apron and some chocolate.  Because, who doesn't love chocolate?

There was some fabulous stuff made in this round of the Spicing Up the Kitchen Swap, and I can't wait for Round 2.  It was just so much fun!

    I love how you packaged it with the wisk and chocolates! And the colors of the apron are gorgeous! I am sure your partner loves it!

    I love that apron, I can't believe you did it without a pattern! Fantastic. SUTK was such a great swap. It was my first too and I'm so glad because it was such a great experience.

    I can't believe you doubted your fabric choices, because when I saw your apron I could not imagine a different fabric that would look more lovely! It's awesome and your partner is very lucky!
