It's time for another weekly dose of modern sewing finishes!
The other day, when I was making my way through quilty/sewing blogland, I came across this blog post from Amanda of Ms McPorkchop Quilts.
it may or may not have been that rocking pink bow that first caught my attention. :)
Totally inspired by all her yummy handmade things, I have decided to do the same. My goal is to have lots of homemade pouches/cases to take along on my trip to SLC for The Sewing Summit in October. Yay! It makes me giddy just thinking about it! :)
First on my to-sew list this weekend was a little pouch for my laptop (which will most definitely be coming along with me!). I opted to a clean, simple look and incorporated one Amy Butler print along with Kona Ash and Kona Snow.
One purple zipper and a little sewing later and I was done!
To add a bit of jazz, I lined the pouch in a contrasting Kona. Love!
I am still contemplating adding a bit of hand stitching along the zipper. Any thoughts?
And there you have it. One laptop pouch ready and waiting for October! :)
Now it's your turn. Have a recent modern sewing finish you would like to share? Then link up!
But please, remember--this is a link-up for finishes only. If you have a work-in-progress post you would like to share--then hold onto it for a few days. Lee from Freshly Pieced has a wonderful linky party on Wednesdays completely devoted to all those works-in-progress.
If you need a reminder on all of the rules for {Sew} Modern Monday, head on over here!
Great pouch! That reminds me that I should start making/stockpiling some fun things to swap at Sewing Summit. :)
ReplyDeleteoh how I wish I could go to Sewing Summit, but I just don't think I can swing it. Hopefully they'll be another one next year!
ReplyDeleteReally sweet pouch, I love the idea of pouches for everything
ReplyDeleteI think some hand stitching would be lovely on your laptop pouch - go for it!
ReplyDeleteYummy pouch, Megan!!! I think that pouch is fantastic, and I think a little bit of hand-stitching would definitely be awesome :) Can't wait to see the pouch in person!
ReplyDeleteThis is so much fun! I want one for my iPad. I'd say yes to handstitching for sure!
ReplyDeleteLove that laptop pouch--I, too, would love to be more surrounded by handmade things!
ReplyDeleteI didn't think I'd have something for this week, but I finished in the nick of time. Damn!! :-)
ReplyDeleteI *love* your laptop pouch...I think it's perfect just the way it is! Love that little bit of AB with the gray!
I'm not usually a purple fan but that looks delicious!!
ReplyDeleteOoh I love it! And I think some hand stitching along the zipper would be totally wow!
ReplyDeleteOohhh how pretty! I think a little bit of hand sewing, almost like a line of hand quilting in fun pearl cotton would be fabulous!
