I can't believe it's already {Sew} Modern Monday time again!
The weeks just keep flying by and by! I mean, September starts this week.
Craziness!
Way back when Jeni and I started brainstorming Travel Handmade, I knew from the get-go that I must have a Weekender Bag to bring along to The Sewing Summit (or any travel excursion for that matter!). I mean, come on. The Weekender Bag and traveling are like milk and cookies. They just go together.
But, I was scared. Very, very scared of this pattern. There are just SO many pieces and steps, not to mention all the Weekender struggle stories out there. So what do you do when you are scared? You grab a friend and hold on tight.
Enter Elizabeth from Don't Call Me Betsy.
Elizabeth and I have been chatting, encouraging, and even laughing (right, E?) through our Weekender Bag process. Thank goodness for picture messaging. Life saver.
And, I have realized there's nothing to be scared of. Just as long as you read every step, then re-read every step, walk through the step in your head, and then re-read it one more time. No joke.
I'm about 3/4 of the way through the bag and I can't wait to finish it up! I fairly certain it's going to be a new favorite of mine. :)
What have you been sewing up this past week? As always, I am looking forward to some great modern sewing inspiration!

I have had this pattern for over a year and have been terrified to make it. Maybe I should give you my number so you can picture message me and hold my hand too! Haha! I think you may have given me the inspiration I need to dust off my pattern and *try* to make it. Now to find just the right fabric ;)
ReplyDeleteMegan I love it! I was chatting with Elizabeth also this weekend about it and we're about the same place in the pattern. I think that even though the horror stories still ring in my head, it's gonna be my favorite. Can't wait to see yours all done!
ReplyDeleteI love it so far, and I can't wait to see it finished!! The fabric is amazing :D I wouldn't even dare to think to make one!! I just linked up my herringbone appliqued leaves. It was really fun making them!!
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great week:)

ReplyDeleteWow, I'm really impressed with the Weekender progress! I love that bag, though I'm a little intimidated to make one. It's nice to see that it's doable (if time consuming)!
ReplyDeleteI'm a beginner so please don't be harsh. I use modern fabrics so i can link up, lol, despite the fact that everyone else has WAY better projects.
ReplyDeleteYour weekender fabric is fantastic! I can't wait to see it finished, I might have to make one now. Because you know, I totally have time for that :)
ReplyDeleteI just stummbled across your blog this morning and LOVE it! Thanks for the info on the weekender bag. I too have been a little afraid to try it because of all the horror stories. Yours will be beautiful when finished...you have chosen perfect fabric.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the opportunity to link up! :) The bag looks fantastic! Can't wait to see it finished! :)
ReplyDeleteLove the fabrics on your weekender!! It seriously isn't that bad as long as you re-read a million times. I even had hubby read a step or two because I was going cross-eyed!
