it all comes down to the "will i fit in" business.
but then i remember, here in the online sewing/quilting community we all have lots in common, right? i mean, we sit behind our laptops/iPads/cellphones/whatever for hours on end searching through sites like flickr and pinterest. we drag our families/husbands/boyfriends along to countless fabric stores searching for a that one new fabric line. we lug quilts out into the front yard and have our own little photo shoots while the neighbors look on in confusion.
yep, we have lots in common!
and that's the part i'm looking forward to most. being in a room, surrounded by some of my sewing and quilting heros, chatting about lord knows what, and enjoying every minute of it because we all just get "it"! there's no need to explain yourself or your sewing addiction--because we are all the same!
so to all of you that will be in SLC for the sewing summit, be sure to say hi! especially if you see this weekender bag. (yep, it's finished! more pictures soon!) i don't care if it's in the airport, on the street, or during class--be sure to introduce yourself! i can't wait to meet you all!

I'm so nervous too. I love your bag. I was thinking of trying to whip one out, but realistically I have tons of sewing to get done soon and a new project is not one of them.
ReplyDeleteFor me it's a fitting in thing too. I've met lots of other sewists over time and sometimes it's awesome and sometimes, not. I don't think I know anyone who is going.
You think you're nervous, how do you think I feel? I'll be the old lady on the block. I hope I can make friends and won't be looked upon as old since I do love you all and try to keep my quilts fresh and modern. I have learned so much from the quilting community and now we will have our own little "click", just like high school, only we'll be the cool kids on the blogosphere! Right? Your bag is gorgeous and I have yet to make a bag, a camera strap and get my s**t together for this excursion. So please say "hi" to me, too. I'll be the one trying to look like I belong. ReplyDeleteI've finally started making things to take with me and show off at Sewing Summit... which is helping to distract me from how nervous I am.
ReplyDeleteI love the fabric on your bag. Cute.
It looks amazing Megan! I won't be at Sewing Summit, but I can't wait to see pics. :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE your bag Megan. The yellow chevron is fantastic.
ReplyDeleteI'm nervous/excited too! I bet we all are. :)
Can't wait to meet you too.

I'm right there with you on the nerves :) Talking to you tamed my nerves a teeny bit, but wow, the idea of walking into a room of people that I "know" and meeting them in person is still a bit overwhelming to me, too! I think we'll be A-OK, though :)
ReplyDeleteLove that weekender bag, can't wait to see more pictures. You'll have a great time at the summit.
ReplyDeleteGirlfriend, I already love ya so in person it will be that much better....get ready for a big wet smooch! ;)
ReplyDelete:) You sure make me smile!
ReplyDeleteI am so excited to go... the nerves haven't hit me yet (probably next week!). I think it'll just be wonderful to chat and spend some time with others who like to do the same types of things.
I love your new bag. I know I won't have time to whip up something that special but I'll make sure to say Hi when I see you carrying it!!
:) Jessicac
love your bag!, enjoy the summit. Maybe next year i will see you all there.
ReplyDeleteOh lucky girl getting to go, I'm sure you'll have an amazing time!
ReplyDeleteOh, Megan, don't be nervous! Besides, didn't Amy tell you we made you a special, "I'm the only employee of Sewing Summit Inc" badge for you to wear so everyone knows who you are? ;] xoxo
ReplyDeleteYou're going to have an awesome time! I'm starting to develop some serious Sewing Summit envy. Next time...
ReplyDeleteYour bag is beautiful. Don't be nervous. Just be yourself. Have fun.
ReplyDeleteOooh I'm starting to get a bit nervous too. But I agree, a good nervous. I can't wait to get to meet everyone! I can't believe I'm actually going! :)
ReplyDeleteThat bag is amazing! I'm way nervous too. I don't know anyone... barely even as bloggy friends... Plus it's the first time I'm leaving my 15 month old. Yeah, as if I didn't have enough to worry about...
ReplyDeleteLOVE the yellow chevron stripe!!!
ReplyDeleteJust gorgeous! I love the yellow chevron! And congrats on tackling this bag!
