for october, katie asked each of us {sew} beautiful bee-ers to make a block of our choice using a lovely selection of red and green holiday prints. she even put together this flickr gallery for us to use as inspiration. now i have to be honest, i don't normally dig the matchy-matchy holiday fabric collections that are out there, but i am in LOVE with the fabrics katie chose. yes, they are red. and yes, they are green. but they don't all scream christmas!
so for katie's block, i chose to make a circle of geese block using this template and alternated the geese using those yummy red and green fabrics. i'm totally loving it and i can't wait to see this quilt finished! i even think i might have to make a mini for myself using this color palate--perhaps for amylouwho's mini quilt sew & tell challenge?

I love it, Megan! I made this block recently and it's so fun.
ReplyDeleteYes! I love this, Megan! Thank you so much!
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm glad you approve of my fabric choices. :) I think the addition of lime green helps make it a little less traditional.
Oh, I keep seeing these and mean to try it one day. I love the Christmas-y prints!
ReplyDeleteHa, that's our bee block for Piece Bee With You this month too :o) Ours are in aqua and orange though. Love your Christmassy one
ReplyDeleteLove it! This is hands down my ultimate favorite favorite block!
ReplyDeleteI love it! The lime really does help keep it from being too traditionally Christmas. I really need to try this block, too. Excellent work!
ReplyDeleteI've never liked the geese pattern before, but combining it with Christmas fabric is great. I'm having second thoughts about those geese! It looks great.
ReplyDeleteLove this block! I've admired it from many a blogger, but don't know if I'll ever get around to making it myself.
ReplyDeleteIt's truly lovely. It is such a modern Christmas block. :)
