a challenge.

do.Good

maybe a "challenge" is putting it mildly. for october (gasp! i know i am a bit behind with this one), Becky asked each of us BLISS do.Good members to make two blocks using Lily's Quilts LynneBobSquarepants block tutorial. i took one look at the block and thought, "eh, i can totally handle this." that's where i went wrong. this silly little block brought me more sewing challenge/frustration than i even want to admit. first there were HSTs, then there was trimming, and then piecing the block. not to mention, matching up all of those seams. uff-dah! it took WAY more time than i anticipated but in the end it was totally worth it (i think!) because these blocks sure are pretty awesome and i can't wait to see the finished quilt!

thanks, becky, for pushing me out of my comfort zone. even if it was only for two bee blocks. :)

  2. "Thangles" has been the only way I have successfully made HST's that consistently match up in a project. So Kudos to you for going for it! You area really so brave!

  7. They look great! the funniest part was when you said "uff-dah"--my husband is from Minnesota and the Swedes say that a lot there.

  9. I've seen the LynneBobSquarepants block tutorial on Lily's Quilts, and I admire you for trying to make some. As far as I'm concerned yours turned out brilliantly!

I love the look of these blocks and I know they're just a load of HSTs and some whole squares, but I'm not that great at matching corners so I've not been brave enough to try them myself yet.I know I need to work on my cutting exactly to size and sewing perfect seams.

    Well done
