i've had a christmas mini quilt on the brain ever since i sent off this bee block to katie. i love how the right combination of red and green fabric can give off a christmas-y feel without being completely over the top. that's just what i set out to do with this mini quilt and i couldn't be happier with the end result!
this was my third circle of geese block and i am a complete sucker for it each and every time. for me, it's the epitome of modern quilting -- fresh and simple! to stick with the modern christmas-y feel, i settled on simple outline quilting and a fun polk-a-dot binding sewn on by machine.
name: christmas mini quilt
designed: by me, using this circle of geese template
quilted: by me
now it's time to start knocking some things off my christmas sewing list. it's hard to believe thanksgiving is already next week! is anyone else starting to feel the pressure of holiday sewing? what do you all have planned?
xo, Megan

Classy. Festive. Perfection.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great variation of a great block!
ReplyDeleteFresh and simple...that describes it exactly. I totally love the Christmas feel with out the over-the-top-ness of Christmasy fabric and all that. I don't know how many times I've said I should try this block, maybe I actually should now! I'm sure I have reds and greens to scrounge from. :)
ReplyDeleteI love it, it's so beautiful! Love the little pup!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThis is so perfect! Thanks also for sharing the template. :)

ReplyDeleteIt's lovely! I love that block! I learned to pp with that block and I want to do it all the time!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Megan. I'm so drawn lately to the white backgrounds. The colors just look amazing up against the white.
ReplyDeleteSo gorgeous. This is one of my favorite blocks too. I really need to make one! Good luck with the christmas sewing. I'm having a mild panic attack over mine too!
ReplyDeleteI love it!

ReplyDeleteI'm with you! this is one of my absolute favorite blocks, and yours is just perfect! Love the red and green, but its not in your face Christmas! So so cute
ReplyDeleteSeriously cute!!
ReplyDeleteOoooh, I like it. All I've committed myself to make for the holidays is $10 gift to exchange at the modern quilt guild. Surely I can handle that . . . I'm thinking cupcake pincushion.
ReplyDeleteSo making one this weekend! Thanks for the inspiration as always!
ReplyDeleteI looks great! I have some large geese planned for when I have some spare time - hahahahahaha ;o)
ReplyDeleteOOOHHH I am so being tempted by the geese in the round. I am seeing them on so many blogs and now here...maybe if my husband is not looking I can hurry up and start one...
ReplyDeleteLove it!
ReplyDeletePerfection.

ReplyDeletePressure? Yes. :o)
ReplyDeleteI love your Christmas mini! The polka dot binding is absolutely perfect for it. Best of luck with your Christmas list. I can't think too much about mine or I'll panic. One day at a time...
Love it! Great fabric in great colors! I've been wanting to make this block in FOREVER! Now you have inspired me to just go for it.
ReplyDeleteWonderful Christmas mini. I have had the circle of geese pattern printed for a while and haven't had the nerve to try it yet. This has inspired me to make one with Christmas fabric....maybe : ) I am not very good at paper piecing...
ReplyDeleteYours is beautiful!

ReplyDeleteI finally gave this block a try, and I'll admit I totally copied your red/green idea! Check out my
blog post today
Thanks for the fun inspiration!!
I really love this block. I had previously printed out the paper piecing pattern, but how do you know how much white to cut, and what sizes. I have trouble figuring out what sizes I will need to cut for the background. Do you have any tricks? Thanks
