molasses sugar cookies. [[the recipe]]

i hope everyone had a wonderful turkey day! 

i personally couldn't have asked for a more perfect holiday! lots of quality family time, tons of great food, SO many laughs! and now that thanksgiving is officially over, it's time to start looking ahead to christmas! decorating, christmas lights, handmade gifts and lots of yummy holiday baking! 

in an attempt to spread some <<holiday spirit>>, i'm going to be sharing a few of my favorite holiday recipes with you all from now until CHRISTMAS!! first up, molasses sugar cookies. these cookies are a holiday essential in our house and i hope you all enjoy!

ingredients.
3/4 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1/4 c. molasses
1 egg
2 c. flour
2 T soda
1 T cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 T ginger
1/2 tsp. salt

in a large mixing bowl, cream together the shortening and sugar. add molasses and egg, beat well. add rest of ingredients and mix well. chill. form in to 1" balls and roll in sugar. bake at 375 degrees F for 8 to 10 min. makes 2 dozen cookies.

  4. GAH!!!! I LOVE molasses cookies!!! Esp if they're chewy. Adding these to the list for next weekend. Between you and Jeni, it's a good thing I'm working out hardcore this season! Caramel and molasses? Cut my big butt a break! lol

  8. I just found this recipe on Pinterest because I can't find my mom's I always use. But I am confused...the capital T is for tablespoon?? It calls for that much baking soda for such a small recipe? I am in the middle of making these and I am worried! HELP!
