Hello, everyone!

Today is the start of the Giant Starburst Quilt Along! If you would like more details about the Quilt Along, check out this post. First up, Fabric Requirements. I've actually decided to give instructions for both the original Giant Starburst & an alternate design. Two patterns are better than one, right?! I'll be quilting along with you with using the Giant Starburst Version 2 using a selection of solids in blues, greens, and purples!

Version One.
Finished Size: 60"x 60"
This Giant Starburst variation is just like my original quilt
  • Fabric A (pink): 3/4 yard
  • Fabric B (orange): 3/4 yard
  • Fabric C (aqua): 1/2 yard
  • Fabric D (yellow): 1/2 yard
  • Background Fabric: 2 1/2 yards
  • Backing Fabric: 3 1/2 yards
  • Binding Fabric: 1/2 yard
  • Batting: 65" x 65"

Version Two.
Finished Size: 60"x 60"
  • 2 1/2 yards total of Main Fabrics
  • White Fabric: 2 1/2 yards
  • Backing Fabric: 3 1/2 yards
  • Binding Fabric: 1/2 yard
  • Batting: 65" x 65"

Be sure to share your Giant Starburst fabric selection & progress using #GiantStarburst on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook & in the CRC Flickr group. Come back next week -- Monday, November 25th -- for cutting instructions.

  7. Question: How much fabric would I need if I wanted to do each point a different color? I was thinking 1/2 yard each would be plenty. Is that enough?
