1. Draw a diagonal line, from corner to corner, on the wrong side of sixteen 10 1/2" background squares.
2. Layer one marked 10 1/2" background square and one 10 1/2" x 20 1/2" Fabric A rectangle, right sides together. Make sure the marked line runs from the upper left corner to lower right corner.
3. Sew on the marked line. Trim corner, leaving a 1/4" seam allowance. Press seam towards the background fabric. Repeat to one other 10 1/2" x 20 1/2" Fabric A rectangle, to make two units.
5. Repeat Steps 2-4, make sure the marked line runs from the upper right corner to lower left corner. Sew on the marked line. Trim a 1/4" seam allowance. Press seam towards the background fabric. Repeat to make two units.
7. Draw a diagonal line, from corner to corner, on the wrong side of four 11 1/2" background squares.
8. Layer one marked 11 1/2" background square and one 11 1/2" Fabric C square, right sides together. Sew 1/4" on each side of the line. Cut on the line. Press seams open. This makes two Half Square Triangles (HSTs). Trim HSTs to 10 1/2" square.
9. Repeat with the remaining 11 1/2" Fabric C square to make a total of four HSTs.
11. Lay out the quilt, using the diagram below. Sew the quilt top together using a 1/4" seam allowance, press seams open.
Finished Giant Starburst quilt top measures 60" x 60".

Version Two.

2. Layer one marked 10 1/2" Main Fabric square and one 10 1/2" x 20 1/2" White Fabric (star) rectangle, right sides together. Make sure the marked line runs from the upper left corner to lower right corner.
3. Sew on the marked line. Trim corner, leaving a 1/4" seam allowance. Press seam towards the Main Fabric. Repeat to one other 10 1/2" x 20 1/2" White Fabric rectangle, to make two units.
5. Repeat Steps 2-4, make sure the marked line runs from the upper right corner to lower left corner. Sew on the marked line. Trim a 1/4" seam allowance. Press seam towards the Main Fabric. Repeat to make two units.
6. Repeat Steps 2-5, for a total of eight units.
7. Draw a diagonal line, from corner to corner, on the wrong side of four 11 1/2" Main Fabric squares.
